Rumpole, this doesn't seem to be quite right. Being based in CNS we have just gone through a redundancy/redeployment program. We were all given an information folder which among other things did contain an Estimate of Redundancy Entitlement. The only thing that required signing was the Expression of Interest form if you were interested in redundancy/redoplyment, and that was purely voluntary. QF wanted rid of 6 people. They got more than 6 interested parties, but only 6 people got the nod - 4 redundancies, 2 redeployments.
1 of the redundant LAMEs has already left and I was in the room sitting beside him when he did his clearance. He did not sign any "Release Agreement'. He answered a series of questions (mainly about whether he had any QF property or not. ie tools, laundry card, corporate credit card, qras token etc, etc). The lady from HR ticked the appropriate boxes, took his QF ID card from him, then SHE signed the bottom of the form and that was it. He was an ex QF employee as of that moment (and happy as a pig in pooh let me tell you)! He did not have to sign anything, in fact he had to be let out of the premises, as you need a QF id card to 'swipe' out.
We were both slightly bemused by the lack of fanfare/speed with which it all happened, but that was it. 20+ years of service all over with in less than 15 minutes.
Hope this helps.
