Someone I know in engineering has told me that he was given an Estimate of Redundancy Entitlement on 21 April 2009 and forced to sign a Release Agreement on 30 April 2009. This was all the notice he says he got about being forced into redundancy. I find this extremely difficult to believe. Can anyone tell me what the process has been? Does this sound unusual in a forced redundancy situation or do you think it is more likely a voluntary one? What is the procedure with voluntary redundancy offers? Anything official??
