Ok, I have to bite.
It goes like this - you attend an armed forces careers office, who, after a few things are completed to their satisfaction, may or may not send you to the officer and aircrew selection centre.
Should you be successful here, you'll begin initial officer training and 30 or so weeks later emerge as a shiny new junior royal air force officer.
You'll then attend an aeromedical course and ground school and then join elementary flying training on the grob. After around 60 hours covering general handling, aerobatics, low and medium level navigation, formation flying and a few other things, you will be "streamed". At this point your future employment will be decided on the basis of three factors - with your personal preference a weak 2nd or 3rd of 3.
Worry about going to the careers office to show you're interested before worrying about anything else.
good luck. it's hard.
