Again it is very difficult to determine who pays more, basic salary means very little compared to the whole package cost of living etc. I think money wize there is little difference between Etihad and Emirates. Both airlines have deep pockets and they both don't like to spend it on staff.

Days off depend on what flights you bid for and the fleet you are on etc, but if you want an average then I'd guess at maybe 10 or 11, not including rest days required prior to or following night duties.
There are great opportunities in the UAE for wifes to work. They will be on your visa, so all you do is write a letter authorizing them to work and it is OK.
Skilled, educated expat workers are very much in demand here and as your wife will be in the country with her own visa she will be in demand. Any additional tax free money you earn while here makes a big difference.

Salary in Ek has an incremental 3% step each year plus an ongoing salary review system which compares global salaries and inflation in Dubai. How they do this, is anyones guess. The salary and allowances however in Ek have not kept pace with inflation or market trends and is not what it used to be. However this seems to have been a global trend over the last few years.
