Congrats guys on getting your interviews. The interview and time spent in Dubai is intended by Emirates to answer most of your questions about life in Dubai and EK. It is the last opportunity for EK to decide if you are right for the job and for you to decide if you want it and life in the sand pit.
My advice is to you all is, do not come here full of preconceived notions and expectations.
Don't get uptight about the process. The fact that you have been invited for the interview means that EK expect you to be able to pass it. Enjoy the trip out here and keep an open mind as to what you find.
If you are offered a job you will get to fly big shiny aeroplanes all over the world and be faced with many challenges, maximum hours, jet lag and sleep deprivation. It is not a Holiday it is a hard job and not for everyone.
Crews, layovers, hotels and security are generally of a good standard some better, some worse. Days off in Dubai will obviously depend on what flights you bid for and what you get. Some guys bid for ultra long haul flights, do their hours quickly and manage to string together 10 days off or so in their top bid months, then jump on a flight else where. Others enjoy their 2 or 3 days off after a flight at home in Dubai with friends or family doing what interests them here.
