Actually, it is pretty much an 80 mile long city as it is. There is not much in the way of countryside on the Lancashire part of the M62. Between Rochdale and Huddersfield is bleak moorland which is presumably where the poor people of this supercity would have to live, if they can design tower blocks to withstand the gales. There is a bit more greenery once you leave West Yorkshire which might be suitable for development as it is flat but I'm sure the current residents might be up in arms about it.

More interesting was the plan to turn Barnsley into a Tuscan villiage. I'm all for it. Moving that dump lock stock and barrel to Italy would do us all a favour
