Other aircraft successfully arriving and departing is no measure of your ability to do the same. The circumstances of the diversion given a finite window of endurance will be different for every aircraft so carries no weight in law. The Captain's decision to divert whilst may be subject to scrutiny, is final. Having said that, airlines perpetually reach for that defence to avoid paying compensation. I suggest you examine your travel insurance and pursue them for your costs.
