X-plane works fine and for a couple of hundred euros for the software and a stick and throttle from Logitech or similar it will work on most PCs. The additional benefit from spending thousands is limited. I used it regularly before I retired from flying the real thing both 737 and later Airbus. It is most productive for an airline pilot if you practice actual procedures and scenarios. As with any simulator I find the hand flying element less satisfactory than practising usage of the autopilot and flight management system.
