Isn't the whole point of this model, to fly from A to B? Not from A to B, then catching a bus to C, then another bus or train to D? I don't think they are banking on the latter to fill half the seats.

Connecting via another airport is an insurance policy as such. Say you are delayed due weather/holding/whatever, they will put on the next one. My last Virgin connection, we got stuck holding in Sydney for 45 mins, missed the connection, however put on the next one half an hour later. Now, if you are late into MCY, as many loco's are, the bus won't wait for you. Hello $200 Uber trip.

Avalon has not been a success as a secondary airport. Jetstar are pulling back the schedule, again. Thousands drive past it every day on the way to Tulla. Such a success its funded by the Andrews Government. People will continue to drive past MCY on the way to BNE.
