He possibly had no idea what the broadcast output was showing at that moment. And he's a TV personality, not ex-aircrew or a spotter. He'd been live for over two hours, on what may well be the biggest show of the year, with a guest in the studio to engage with.
It's probably not as tough as flying an inverted Buccaneer at 20 ft around the Glens, as you gents have all done, but it's not easy; and using this error to slag off the BBC tells more about your own political agenda than it does about HE's ability.
