Agreed. There is some say, but ultimately they’ve let go of thousands of pilots in Europe (say or not, union or not). I think its always been clear that moving to the ME or most of ASIA means you’ve understood that you could get fired for anything with no fair reasoning or case. Its been like this for decades now. Thats why one trades security for more cash usually - everyone has a preference. That being said I know FOs in an EU country with 10 years service that were Fired during covid to make way for Captains to take their seat rather than firing equally across both seats - and yes there was a Union but nothing happened. So you tell me if that was fair? Safe to say no job is safe anywhere as a pilot - gone are the strong unions (most are self serving now), labor laws (what are those?)….
True.Like you said, it’s just a business and they only think about profits and we are just numbers. Covid 19 is an exceptional situation, none of the previous recessions were this bad. But Europe did recover fast and many airlines started hiring in no time.
