With COS18 CX has found its no problem to recruit kids to become pilots.
(Please don't mention to management that actually the young ones will do it for free.)
However retaining actual pilots seems to be problematic...
So to make the future planned crew numbers work recruit and train they must!
Its pretty simple, LOCALS DON'T LEAVE! HK is their birthplace, they need to support parents in their older years. Ramp up the cadetship, localise the airline and you now have addressed turnover, same as all the other national carriers.
It's taken a few years but Swire have finally taken a leaf from SQ. Next they will have a new talent pool from north of the border, watch the CAD bow to pressure to recognise CAAC licences.
