Well, then let's chalk this case up for what could have been saved. Not only the crashed aircraft and the extra effort to get another one, but probably a few months of reasonable life for the pilot as well. Terminal stage predictions are notoriously off in many cases (err on the low side), so if you are fit to take off in the airplane and fly around alone, it is surely too early to call it quits. He could have enjoyed flying around for another month before bidding farewell to life, had he known a possibility to plan it that way.
