easyJet (U2,
London Luton) is planning to wet-lease six A320 Family aircraft from
SmartLynx Airlines (6Y,
Riga) during the summer 2022 season to support its operations out of
London Gatwick, ch-aviation has learned.
Spokesman Andy Cockburn confirmed the contracts would begin with the onset of the summer season.
The Latvian ACMI/charter specialist operates six
A320-200s and six
A321-200s, the
ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows, while sister carrier
SmartLynx Airlines Estonia (MYX,
Tallinn Lennart Meri) operates a further four A320-200s.
SmartLynx Airlines Malta (LYX,
Malta Int'l) operates seven A320-200s, two A321-200s, one
A321-200(P2F), one
A321-200(PCF), and six
A330-300s.
All of easyJet's flights out of Gatwick are operated by
easyJet UK (U2,
London Luton). The LCC is by far Gatwick's largest operator with a 48% market share by scheduled weekly departure capacity.
