Generally if you meet the standard at time of license issue your medical will not be down graded as part of a blanket policy change unless there is an issue specific to you that casts your ability in doubt. I have heard no indication that the Farnsworth test is being reconsidered by Transport Canada and have recently dealt with this issue for a friend.

If it was the process will likely take years before coming into effect so I would consider you should have no problem getting the medical and completing your training.

However you will probably never be able to hold an EASA license.
