Poppa Joe, can't disagree with your observation re engineering standards. However apparently these are new aircraft so heavy maintenance will be some way off. They are still going to require line maintenance support and given the stated position of servicing secondary airport destinations I would suggest that there is a reasonable probability of some long delays. Even with a comprehensive MEL. Not a good thing for a start-up. CASA will require a maintenance contract with an MRO as part of the AOC process. There aren't too many independent MRO's (if any) with the MAX on their Certificate. VT, Hawkers maybe? Neither would come cheaply and VT is really a subsidiary of Bains Baby. Adding a type to a Certificate still requires time and money. Interesting times! Cheers!
