Absolutely. He spoke at the European Parliament to warn us about the threat posed by Al Quaeda but not many were listening. The moment that the news of the attacks appeared it was the first thing that occurred to me.
As I predicted earlier, desecration of Massoud's grave was a certainty - I just saw the relevant post.
Meanwhile, here's an alarming article from the NY Post (FWIW) about the Taliban "Special Forces". If it's accurate then it's sufficient justification for a total embargo on any recognition of the entire gang. The article also suggests that there are a substantial number of functional aviation assets in the Taliban's possession; whether that's true or not who knows?
