If memory serves me right, you can only become an SFI with 1500 hours on type or above. If you're eligible for zero flight time training, there's a limitation on how soon after the ZFTT sim session you have to start line training. If you finish the sim course and do not do the base training within 6 months, you'll need extra training to become eligible for the type rating. So, worth waiting for a while, I think.
