It is a fair point of view. Potentially a cultural difference in understanding different markets and how they operate. They would not be the first to do that.
Hunkering down and saving cash because you see what is in front of you can be a good or bad strategy depending on what is happening in market. In this case it is a good strategy because all the same messages are everywhere, the mistake is mis interpreting the message and assumming yopu know different.
