The fact that the word was being used as a C/S in the 90's, but particularly on CONUS shows a lack of understanding. Yet walk around south LA, Chicago, Detroit, New York, the casual use of the N word surrounds you, used by the younger black folks as a throwaway greeting/salutation/derogatory term as the situation(s) require.
They certainly aren’t offended by it.
