Because in some cases they were physically unable to, military curfews imposed and borders closed with literally no notice in some cases.
Plus I know many people living overseas, and I can tell you now, they don’t expect the government to pay for their lifestyle abroad....
Maybe some whining idiots here should actually stop thinking Australia is the only place in the world to live
