A true gent, you would never know he flew fighters in WW2. When he presented it was all about the subject, not selling himself.
I was always amused by the story of him buying a boat.
Ah it must have been a converted MTB or Fairey Huntsman i thought, but no it was a caravan in a sort of pontoon with an outboard !!!
Pobjoy did a comentary once at a formula one air race at Gaydon. It was very short notice (10 mins) and with no notes so, when one of the Cassuts fell behind after a couple of laps i sugested to the crowd that the throttle had caught in his trousers. When one of the machines 'wobbled ' a bit during a pylon turn i said his glasses had fallen off,but it was quite normal. Not quite RB . As it happens it was very near the the truth as the Cassutt cockpit was very very tight and no place for slack clothing.
