The issue being its very difficult for a new operator to just come in, the CAA have a lot of hurdles to overcome, more than in a lot of other countries, the issue being you might spot a niche, but by the time you've got through all the red tape, bought/leased some aircraft, recruited staff, set up an office, that niche has been filled by an existing airline.

With the current crisis I think if we do see any airlines fail, such as Virgin, you can expect Easyjet, British Airways to do a dash and grab. In the regional sector I wouldn't be surprised to see Loganair, Eastern & BlueIslands do some sort of merger or an agreement to be closely linked.
