I guess they are trying to keep the show running for MPLs because at the end, the pilots will be needed in 2 years from now. The issue is if the assessment will be still on, with so many flight restrictions and possible lock downs from several countries. You might go, and then out of the blue, you might need to put into quarantine when you go back home.
