Numbers seem a bit high. Hiring in aircraft to bring people home will be expensive but wondering how cost could be so much. At this stage half or more of those due to be transported home likely to be here or on their way.
It is possible that the borrowing is for cash flow purposes as doubt ATOL would have £400 million just sitting in bank doing nothing.
The figure also covers repayment of customers for future booked holidays under ATOL protection. So that quickly mounts up.
