If you apply from outside of HK they will sometimes do an 'expedited process' where your initial A and B dates are close together so that you don't need to fly to HK twice.
Only if you are successful with your initial A will you be able to attend initial B.
Without further info to the contrary I'm guessing this is what is occurring with Yunny's application, especially as his/her location is set as London.
