Now what for the next 40 yrs, or even 4.
Unknown, unknowable, or just uncertain. Future risk is not probability & outcome; it is the number of uncertainties that the pilot will have to manage. Probability is an assumption that the future will be like the past, or the best guess. Outcome, unknowable, the fine division between death and a dent.
So perhaps we should reflect on the day job, how we have managed, and will continue to manage those uncertainties, and how we might reduce their number, providing this doesn’t introduce more uncertainty.
But that requires foresight.
