I know what you mean, distance wise that’s ridiculous. However I bet you can get to Waterloo from touching down at Southampton far faster than you can get to Euston from touch down at Stansted.
From Stansted the train goes directly to London Liverpool Street not Euston. So by having to change trains to get to Euston you’re not really comparing like for like are you?
Stansted to Liverpool Street takes 47 minutes by the way.
The quickest journey from Southampton Airport to Waterloo takes 1hr 12.
Southampton is definitely not a London airport.
