Rules probably have changed recently, but 5 years back, it did not cost me a cent to transfer all the type ratings from the Canadian to the FAA ATP. Went in to the FSDO after calling ahead; they were really friendly. Just sat down with all my licenses, asked me if indeed I had flown this and that, then added all to the FAA ATP. No check rides, no exams, no nothing, not even the $2 fee to re issue the license. Got to love it, sometimes government services really do work out.

But, if it is not Canadian to FAA, heard that there is coursework and ride involved. The trick is to add your ICAO ratings to the Canadian license first-no ride, no fees-then use the reciprocal agreement to get the FAA ratings.
