I think it's better to work for MAM and move up in the world to full time. Qantas international positions are competitive not mention the looooong wait for ground school, difficult but not impossible but.
Wouldn't get my hopes up for that; when I was previously employed with then I was there more than 2 years and there was no opportunity for transfer for MAM to QF long haul . We had to apply just like anyone else off the street. As for the crew who had already been there for years, I only knew a few who transferred to full time short haul. Maybe it's different now but you'd likely still come after mainline domestic crew in the scheme of things if positions became available in long haul.
