Also re the NBD issue- it is rather terrifying, the prospect of encashing a cheque and wandering over to the money exchange with almost 1.5 million AED. I would assume I would have to also arrange an account ahead of time with Al Rostamani at EGHQ ... I may just ask for the Provident fund to be directly transferred from Offshore to my account back home- just wondering if anyone ran into any hiccups doing that- seems more reassuring to have that transfer receipt from Al Rostamani in my hands.. decisions, decisions..
I know a few people who have had the Prov Fund directly transferred and no problems reported.
I will be having my Prov Fund directly transferred too and have opened a US$ account to accept the funds so I can transfer into local currency at the timing of my choice.
