People were evacuated from landside to airside without the necessary security checks. As I understand it, the whole airside part of the terminal including satellite buildings needed a security sweep before these areas were useable again. That’s why no flights departed until after midnight (if any) because of the security operation to secure the airside areas.
I can only assume that because the fire was at the front of the terminal (landside) that this was the safest option available. None of us were there so I’d say it is difficult to comment or have an opinion.
