We need to be realistic, we aren’t talking about Ryanair or a regional operation here, we are talking about mainline Qantas. Arguably the best airline conditions in the country for a legacy carrier crewed by nationals in their own country. It’s going to be a long time before any pilot shortage hits mainline enough to be a bargaining tool, and the recent announcement by AJ shows they are aware of this anyway.
Don’t panic, but sitting on your hands hoping that a pilot shortage will work in our favor without proactively securing our flying is foolish, I certainly don’t want another 10 years of stagnation while every other airline in the group progresses. Get stuck into them AIPA.
