I know what you mean but do we have the wrong thinking on public airports? What’s the difference between driving your car into Merredin and flying your station Cessna into town for shopping or whatever? Would it be sensible to charge every motorist a fee and have them obtain permission beforehand?
Personally I believe we should take our freedom and freedom of movement very seriously. One kilometre of airstrip ‘road’ gives access to the super highway to anywhere. It’s not difficult, we have abundant land and with the undreamed technology now available for the advancement of light aircraft GA could be a national winner.
