Former Gulf Air pilots?

I often wonder whilst happily doing a Dover 1 departure on my ride on mower in retirement if former pilot work mates....John Severn...Damien Mulain...Phillip Tablanche are all well and still happily flying somewhere nice?

This could become one of the greats. Er, Dover 1. Be careful. You might be cleared direct to Dover, mishear it as "Doha" and wipe the whole route ! Last heard Damien was with QR. Phil, I think, still with some private ops outa Jeddah. John, I saw, huffing & puffing in the staff car park after losing, about, 2 million on the stock exchange. Richie Corbett in Cyprus but on the "oldie" side, near Paphos. 'Big' Al Mansell there too. I am the only Rocker, Aya Nappa side.

Anyone who drinks Jack Daniels and adds Coke should stay Aya Nappa side!

PS If whole route gone it should still be on the secondary?

Cheers Millerscourt. Getting older & finding the JD's a bit hard to keep down ! BUt, "secondary" ? Therein a Airbus man. On my ageing Boeings, we had "Route 2" which was not used much except for diversions. 'Secondary' was something I had difficulty with on my A340 (successful) conversion. I mean, how do you activate secondary on a go around from Kathmandou (geees, that does not look right, even though I went there). Give me "route direct to Doha" anytime. Easeeeee !!

Would John Severn have been flying Gulf Aviation DC 3's & Fk-27's out of Bahrain 1966 - '68 ?

Also remember a German pilot, Ingo ???

Yes, father John, a few years later, mid seventies, and son too.

Cripes, one of the greats ? This thread has lasted two days with 7 posts out 962 hits ! Going down the pan like the Air Europe thread. I guess, no-one really cares unless you happened to be there and even then, few seem to be interested. Bit sad , really. But then, to perk me up, some great DC7 shots on the site. I'll keep reading .

Peter May

Peter May - Tristar Skipper 1980s ex Laker and Aurigny- anybody have any news of him? I think he went east after GF. He was my next door neighbour on the top floor of The Gulfair Tower in Manama. He was addicted to,amongst other things, Birds Custard (at that time unobtainable in Bah) and grew tomatoes on the roof of that building. Happy days!

My memories include Ian Whitford (RIP) ex GF LAD, B737 and L1011. Demonstrated to me on a number of occasions how to fly a straight in approach on Salalah's newly installed ILS. Long before spy-in-the sky instrumentation was thought of.

A gentleman and sadly missed colleague.

Peter May joined SIA on the B744, sort of 1994(ish), possibly a bit later. No idea where he is now though.
