An awfully long time ago, there was a young lad who frequented an airport terminal as a plane-spotter.
He was always pestering the staff at the airport Information Desk for, well, information!
He struck-up a friendship with one of the Information Desk staff in particular.
One day, that person arranged a visit for the young lad to the local Flying School, and a very kind Flying Instructor (who happened to be the fiancé of the person from the Information Desk) arranged a quick flight for the young lad in one of their PA-28's.
More importantly, that Flying Instructor introduced the lad to the Chief Flying Instructor and to the Proprietor of the Flying School, and that led to the young lad becoming the Flying School "Go-fer"; you know, 'Go-fer this....Go-fer that.....'!
That one simple act of kindness by the person from the Information Desk and the Flying Instructor led to many more acts of kindness by many others.
It also was the start of what has, so far, been a 38-year career that currently sees this now not-so-young lad in the Left Seat of a Large Jet Airliner.
The person from the Information Desk was Jenny Potter
The Flying Instructor was Bill Potter.
Thank-you both for that one simple yet awesome act of kindness.
Bill, I'll never forget you. Never.
Rest in peace.
