Are those values net or gross? Paid in Luxembourg or China?

Moonwalker 2nd Apr 2016 10:42

Is the travel back to Europe on your off days or on days?

CaptainProp 2nd Apr 2016 14:17

Gross / net will almost never be the same for people due to married, not married, tax liable in home state or not, if tax liable then in which state are you tax liable etc etc... Salary info is, or should always at least be, stated as gross salary. Just saying....

fly4more 5th Apr 2016 00:01

Advertising these as basic salaries gives little insight into the actual contract. In my experience the advertised rates will be based on so many block hours, duty pay, away from base allowance. etc. Or not.

Tax in china is high. If CargoLux do not pay your china tax, then take-home will be half what you get gross. Google china tax rates.
45% on 80,001RMB and above.

The elephant in the room is ability to pass AND maintain the CAAC medical.
Good luck with this, unless you are a current astronaut.

Tax could be the main issue there I agree. Anyone knows if there are extra's like sector pay / allowances / pension? Where would one pay his social security? Luxembourg or China or not at all?

negativeclimb 7th Apr 2016 00:44

Salary is in EUR, start and end of duty in EU. While on China they keep you in an hotel I guess so tax should be based on Lux rates. At least I hope so...
Right now the main problem is to pass the DLR!

fly4more 7th Apr 2016 06:03

Pay Lux tax, i hope not !

From the gov lux tax calculator...

Calculate your salary in Luxembourg.

As the subsidiary company is 70% owned by the Chinese, on a local IOC requiring CAAC licence and medical , its unlikly your contract will anything but Chinese based. Positioning home at your own cost?

chaz88z 13th Apr 2016 20:43

Anyone got a reply yet ? I wonder which profile they will choose...

The Crew 17th Apr 2016 04:00

After applying online , and presumably meeting the minimum requirements , you will receive an email asking you to agree to releasing your personal information to DLR Hamberg via the aero recruiting site.
DLR is the German equivalent of NASA, and conducts "fearsome " physiological tests for the DLR and/or third parties.
After Germanwings, i guess they are a bit over cautious.
I do get the impression that fluent German language skills are highly desirable , although not mentioned in basic job requirements.

hph304 17th Apr 2016 09:19

That release of information was standard even before the GWI crash.

jeehaa 17th Apr 2016 11:08

...and has nothing to do with the German language. Tests for non-German companies are conducted in English.

The Crew 17th Apr 2016 20:19

"Tests for non-German companies are conducted in English"
This may be the case , but when the company's country of origin's official language is german and french, what relevance is english?
On the online application, it asks for a candidates german language proficiency . Enough said.

Hiltonharry 17th Apr 2016 21:48

I worked in Lux and everyone spoke English. We all got along just fine. It's a multi national European company. The German lads spoke German to other German guys in private as is perfectly natural, why wouldn't they?? But when speaking to French, Dutch, Belgian, Norweigian, Luxembourgish or Brit, guess what, language was never a problem, even if someone didn't speak another language brilliantly, we all got along.

It's a friendly work place, the colleagues great and at no point did I ever feel un welcome just because I didn't speak German as a first language?! Be a shame to let such pointless rumours put people off. Look at the terms and decide if they're for you and will work. Thats where your main point of consideration lies. Can't speak for The China ops as they're after my time. As for the rest you'll find line wise no problem, fantastic people you fly with and we all managed to laugh over beers and a meal no matter where we came from.

The Crew 18th Apr 2016 11:24

The overseas operation is majority Chinese owned, operated and requiring chinese licence. A whole new operation, but unlikly the memories of old days of flying with Cargolux would mean much. Crewed by a new bunch of non unionised contract flying staff, sounds like just another asian operator. Not same as FedEx who use regular guy but on basings.
But theres always hope somewhere, if you need it.

Yancovitz 29th Apr 2016 18:07

Just applied for CLX China, did anyone received a answer already?

highfive 30th Apr 2016 00:51

Assesment days from May until Aug 2016. Looks full on if what they send you is anything to go by. They say minimum 10 days study with the info they provide . Dont think you can pass without it they say!

The meat of the contract is not mentioned.
Tax paid where? What the stated salary consists of ? Med cover incase you fail caac?

standardbrief 30th Apr 2016 21:13

Hi all i was told chinese tax AND tax in your EU residence country. I assume that if your residence country and china has a tax treaty tho all you pay is chinese tax? Anyone know?

negativeclimb 1st May 2016 05:22
