A320 Line Training

Don't shoot Mister PPrune'rs. (the ones that say don't do a type rating without a job, hours...etc etc. It's done already ;-) )

Can anyone shed any light on Airlines providing Line Training this time of year and with a salary? Not interested in EagleJet.

Must be some out there that don't cost in excess of £30k

Nope not a single legit airline would do that. Bottom feeders yes but not proper airlines

I have read that Vueling are losing a lot of guys (I know Spanish used to be "more than desirable" I imagine still the case) I know Wizzair are recruiting at the moment, but don't think they do "zero hrs on type" recruitment (yet !) .

That leaves the dregs, like Small Planet / Smartlynx / Avion Express, hope you don't have to go that low, but, they may be the only companies interested, and, as others will point out to you in ruder terms, you know why, because you have just become a revenue source.

Good luck anyhow, it is a shame you hadn't done the TR on this (or Boeing) with a company that offered the chance of a bit more afterwards.

Try Aegean, they are looking for rated pilots and taking them with no hours.

Thanks for the replies guys. The ato told us they'd put us forward with the airlines, hence paying for it. So far hasn't happened and now wrong time of year. Just need those golden 500hrs. Sadly reasoning with the possibility of having to pay for line training is now dawning upon me - didn't want to go that low but I have a rating now and need those hours - surely you can understand.

Small Planet still looking at min 500hrs. Wizz are taking guys with zero hours but several weeks to months backlog, so they told me. Smartlynx, already tried. Think they are min 500hrs too. And Aegean, same!!

Try Germania. They've invented pay-to-fly many years ago.

Great attitude for a pilot! Throwing all caution to the wind!

I'd say: let Darwin do the selection and either figure it out yourself (since you're so wonderful in doing things on your own) or join the ranks of unemployed bankrupt pilots.

You should have listened to people before you paid for a rating without a job!

p.s. I can't believe that idiots here are helping out an even bigger idiot!

Why are people helping this moron?

Wondering what is wrong with our industry? People like this.

You, sir, are a disgrace to the profession. You prostituted yourself on a whim and a prayer with no job at the end of it and showed the airlines there is no end of people willing to burn through their own money to 'buy' a job. Do yourself and the rest of us that still have to work in this industry a favour and quit while you're ahead. Why on earth would any airline want to hire you even after you've BOUGHT your experience? Disgusing.

As much as I despise PTF as a concept, this guy is showing the reality of entry level commercial flying in the 21st. century. Chances are he will eventually get a well paid job and many years hence will break even on the investment, lets help him on his way.

While I agree that paying for a type-rating is today's reality, buying one impulsively and see what happens after, without doing a research first, or even despite that, is plain stupid, and hardly a desired quality of an airline pilot.

Like others said, do us all a favour, quit this and become an entrepreneur - you'll be much better at that. That's where the risk taking is often rewarding.

With this attitude your airline career will not be an enjoyable journey for you anyway, and also not for the people around you.

Perhaps not what you wanted to hear.

Alternatively take some time and change your approach and attitude entirely.

Do you not understand that you have gone on to a forum full of PROFESSIONAL pilots and you are asking them to help you do their jobs for free (actually it's even worse, you are planing on paying someone to do our job!). Your desparation is destroying this industry and whilst people like you exist this job will continue its decline, you can't be surprised that people are taking offence to your post?

Also have you ever thought what will happen when you get those "magic" 500 hours? Why would a company employ you when they can just pick up the next loser with bag fulls of cash and the dream to fly?!

Here is the bottom line, if you are having to pay to work then you are probably not good enough in the first place. I have said this before and I will say it again, this is a job not a hobby, some of us rely on this industry to feed our families, STOP it up!!!!

Sadly Enzo all airlines care about is hours...... Paying or what ever of it helps airlines to move the risk so pay2fly gives better chances of getting interviews and opportunities.......it's risky but works

It's a commercial world and no one cares ....

People would not go to this extent if airlines like RYR and others had fair methods of giving all equal opportunities..... Sadly they don't .......

Even people on here who have got jobs don't help others trying yet ask for help ....

With respect I strongly disagree. All the major airlines have an unhealthy bias towards recruiting cadets with zero hours and no type ratings. Having hours in this profession sadly counts for nothing (but that's a different discussion).

EasyJet, Ryanair, BA, Monarch and even Virgin have all this year recruited cadets with no hours, now if you tried and failed to secure "employment" with any of the above then give up. The answer is NOT to buy your way in, digging yourself a massive financial hole that you will never climb out of and destroying the profession along the way.

I disagree massively with the recruitment policies of airlines around Europe and I have made no secret of that fact, but it's too easy to blame them. If the never ending supply of trust fund wizards would dry up they would be forced to change, they would have to run cadet programmes that are fully funded from day one, selecting people on merit and ability opposed to the size of there families bank accounts.

Sorry Enzo, while I might agree with your sentiment, factually, you are not right. There have always been various ways into the industry which involved putting up a lot of your own cash. The airlines that take cadets are inundated with suitable applicants, so there has to be an alternative route for the ambitious wannabe who can provide the funds. I came up through the old self-improver route 25 years ago and watched people do instructing for no reward, buy jet type ratings with career development loans from the UK government. work as Pilots Assistant for no pay, buy FO development programs from the USA on TP's and jets. Eventually, all these guys and gals got jobs which were worthwhile. I know of people in my own airline who have debts in the area of 140k, but they are pretty cool about it when they are in quite well paid employment and looking at many of their contemporaries who are unemployed after University and sitting on 60k of debt. Welcome to the modern world, so glad it is not mine!

@AceD3 I know that Aegean takes low hours FOs and they are quite desperate for Pilots at the moment. No need to pay, a normal job like any other job.
Try to find out who to contact and who is in charge. In this industry you need to talk to the right people and the right time.
