There is on going recruitment for the 73 fleet, around 12 courses next year with ground course starting next month, 2015 will be a year of consolidation, with new aircraft deliveries replacing the 300's so a next increase of about 4 units, but 2016 will be a very busy year..........

No. But B787 recruitment MAY be indicative of B737 recruitment insofar as how experienced, type-rated pilots' view of the airline?

If there are any transfers from one fleet to the other then this may have a (small) effect on B737 recruitment numbers?

but 2016 will be a very busy year..........
The one problem that the aspiring 'cadets' have is maintaining currency. It is one thing being a trainee pilot sponsored by an airline, and therefore having a job to go to, but quite another revalidating licences and ratings - especially the cost of instrument ratings.

2016 will be good for those cadets just having qualified, but those tied into bonds and those whose ratings have lapsed not so good.

That is, of course, if NAS take on cadets or stick with experienced pilots transferring across from other operators.

I wonder how big the 'pool' of experienced pilots really is - that is, those experienced, type-rated and current?

Unfortunately 'cadets' with only a basic licence are not at the top of the food chain.

As far as I'm aware there has only been a "handful" of upgrade courses for contracting pilots by comparison to DECs joining.
That's my experience with contract pilots tending to remain in the position for which they were contracted, that is first officers remain in the RHS.

Others no doubt will have different experiences and it would be interesting to learn what the mix of experiences are?

Not any more than JAL recruitment is indicative of. You have to remember that the 787 Ops are a totally different company where the only thing they have in common is the red nose.

Actually, not for much longer are we going to be a different company, not outside of Scandinavian bases anyhow. LGW and other bases to follow, will be flying Irish registered aircraft, on an Irish AOC, with Dublin based management Pilots, under Norwegian Air International, the same as Long Haul. It's beginning to feel like the airline which I hoped to have seen the last of!

Sadly, I can no longer hand on heart recommend making the jump, especially if you have the 'right' base, or are near command. Just my opinion though. Shame

I am deeply, deeply, sorry . . . to agree with you

And, sadly, even if a few "enlightened" Senior FO's who saw their Commands flashing 12 ? 18? months forward from the "promised" date, migrate back to the "Dark Side" . . . will anything meaningful change ? what do ya reckon ? I reckon not. . . . . . . .

If DECs keep joining while experienced senior FOs are waiting for a command then I can only see a lot of them looking elsewhere. And for what's it's worth the rumour is that a lot of them are.

Why would experienced and competent First Officers that are very capable of becoming captains stay and watch what seems to be an endless amount of DECs join ahead of them in the left hand seat?

Maybe FR might take a few back as a few were about to their commands there. But maybe not?

Either way EK and the other we can't name are sniffing around I suspect.

EK have setup road shows in a lot of Norwegians bases including HEL, ARN, CPH, and OSL.

Let's face I don't think they are targeting high seniority SAS or FINNAIR pilots.

On a positive note it's a very nice airline overall but at the moment this seems to be a sticking point among senior FOs.

Now, why would people based in scandi-land and on core contracts leave for Emirates? To be first officer for another ten years? Leave one of the most secure and rich societies in the world for the desert? If you are scandi and want to based at home, this is the only show in town. SAS, JetTime, Primeria are all hiring, but an average FO in core would take a massive pay cut to go, at least 50 percent if not more as per comparison today. Now, for the euro bases that is an entirely different matter. Wait a year for command, for NPG to work and the 100 max to arrive or leave for the desert? I know what I would do

Ironic if your words proved to include FR?!?!?!

Two out of three top low cost airlines on the Irish register?

... or will it prove to be one super-loco?

Does anybody know to tell me,how long it takes after the on-line assessment to inform the candidate about the results?
Do they inform about fail or pass or they call you right the way for the next session what ever it is?
Anyway,what is the process?

Cheers

If you are called to an interview, then they will discuss the online test with you during the first stage. I mean, I don't even know, but that's what we've been told!

I dont know where you heared all this cr@p but clearly you havent flown for FR before and I dont know anyone who moved back for the past 12 month...

All of us who left are willing to fight to keep this company a good place to be !

Things are still a lot different from Ryr here. We have the will and the tools to fight for our rights.

But if you want to leave please go ahead... We wont let the same happen in Norwegian.
Everfly: remember this snippet you wrote in May? Now a significant number of Norwegian FO's resigned and returned to FR, fyi

True ? or rumour ? I heard a significant amount were unhappy that the "time to command" half-promised at interview was not materialising, I also heard FR were running two OCC's in January for "returnees". . . do you know this news for sure ? if so, it should open NAS(NAN/NAI. . whatever)'s eyes to the fact they are not the only show in town, & even the "freaks show" might work out better for some. . . . . .

It's not so surprising after the latest announcement regarding upgrades but I am curious of where you get your facts from...

I haven't notice a large amount of pilots leaving, if any, we are over-crewed in most of the bases and people seems happy.I can believe that some people are willing to go back, it isn't always green in NAX but its definitly greener for me and a lot of guys who joined.

On a side note, it's kinda funny to think that they will probably earn the same money as a new captain while flying 100 hours a month in the base of their choice...

Nothing!.. I'm more than disappointed that I took the time to apply and do the online assessment. I can't believe the rudeness of a supposedly organised and professional company to invite professional people to apply for a position and then ignore them.. It will be a "no thanks" from me now! I will stay where I am and never apply to Norwegian again. Best of luck to anyone still waiting.
