1. When is the IAG deal for bmi forecasted to be concluded?
2. When the deal is concluded, bmi will not become BA overnight. There is no evidence of bmi planning to relinquish their services by a particular date.
3. Early signs indicate that the 340 bmi pilots will initially be on a separate seniority list with PP34. New joiners will also be on PP34 and integrated to the bottom of the Mainline list.
4. While this doesn't look like good news for the recruitment of holdpoolers, (however I reckon you are now closer to finding out) I'd be more concerned with the other excuses that BA will reason ie APD, economic decline, war in the middle east.
5. I have no idea of BA's recruitment requirements for their current fleet, keeping bmi as a separate issue for now. Added to this there seems to be absolutely little indication about the future of their LGW operation and namely the 737 fleet. There seems to be a lot of 737 rated people floating around in the pool doing very little.

That's all I know.

The takeover of BMI was always going to be bad news for us waiting to get in the door.

However the fact 300 pilots are now going to be ahead of us on the BA seniority list (in a year to 2 years time when integration is finally complete), is the better outcome (in context) than us being put at the bottom of a seniority list in BA Express.

Now the deal is done hopefully the recruitment wheels will start turning again, even a 34pp scale with a 5% increase in work and 2 days reduced leave is still FAR better than what im getting at my current employer.

The wait is killing me

Hi all,

I also got the invite for day 1, however, whenever I log in I get straight to the summary page.
A personal friend of mine is allready in the holding pool and he said there should be an link to book my interview (eventhough there are no days available).

Is this the same for the other guys who are waiting for day one?

There was an in-house on-line Managers chat at BA today. The subject of DEP, Mil and Cadets was discussed in some detail - actual numbers etc.

Forgive me for not immediately rushing those facts into print as I'm not certain they are for public consumption and I certainly don't have permission to.

I will see if anyone else is brave enough to post them - if not I will ask for permission.

Does anyone know if there are any 76 rated people currently in the hold pool?

Thanks for the heads up

Hi ETOPS,

I am in the pool, 320 and 737 rated, currently 320 in the middle east. Do you have just a broad brush indication of what may be planned for those of us in a similar position?

Thanks, and for what its worth I think the vote was 100% correct, the only way to stave off BA express!

Actually I would hang on in there. As you are already "in the system" I would guess they will eventually bring you in for the rest of the process - up to you how that results of course There is unlikely to be any fresh DEP recruitment for some time and future plans include getting the FFPs on line when they pass their courses.

Likewise, without wishing to bug anyone (specifically ETOPS, although I think a few of us owe you a beer already) can anyone please forward me a PM or disseminate a bit of information via the hold pool email list.

Non-rated, swimming since early-Dec and hoping to see the shore soon.

Either myself or LHRBound can forward it to the pool email list with your permission.

Best of luck with the bathroom project and thanks again

So ETOPS can finish his bathroom......

At the BA managment Q&A yesterday a direct question was asked about the current recruitment of DEP/Ex-Mil.

The answer was "we will have positions in due course".

It would seem that the current size of the holdpool means all those in it, plus a few that are currently going through interviews and SIMs should still get course dates.

A seperate email was sent from BA to all holdpoolers a few weeks ago that stated type ratings are currently penciled in all the way up to august and It would seem that the BMI deal has not affected this.

Hi guys, this is my second time around through the process after having my airbus course chopped as a cadet in 2008. I passed day one again back in September and I missed out on a sim in February as I was working whilst all the slots were snapped up. I've been informed to expect a date in Mar/Apr but any further recruitment news that could be sent via PM would be greatly appreciated. It would be heart breaking to miss out again! BM

Surely with all the BMI guys coming over there will be a training capacity issue. I am assuming they will all have to do a quick conversion course and a few sectors, and this will take priority over new joiners as they are already on the payroll?

I think it will be run as BMI until at least the end of this tax year. Full integration will have to take place after a 90 day consolation process at least. Seniority integration and route structure changes won't happen until the summer at the earliest I would have thought.

interview slot's link

Hello NRN,
You won't find any links on your account until BA decides so.
In addition you suppose to receive an e-mail that tells you available slots.
So welcome to the limbo of the forgottens.... I've been waiting for a call since last august.
good luck
