I stand to be corrected but I'm fairly certain that the cost included the aircraft training as well as the sim stuff but they did not chuck in a 72-600 differences course for that money, if a candidate wants to do the differences training they have to arrange that separately at further expense to themselves and hope that the extra ticket makes them more employable.

There used to be a link from the Aer Arann website to a training page which had loads of useful information but that seems to have disappeared recently.

I have noticed that they have been recruiting recently for a new head of training, not sure if the previous head of training has already left or whether they're due to leave/ retire and will hand over to the new person. There does seem to be some changes at the top in the training department which may or may not affect the TRTO operation.

With the staff travel is it just regional routes, mainline (ID90) or can you also get ID90 Interline with partners, US etc?

Hi guys, I've got a question: Apparently you have to do the TR and pay those 17000€ before they put you in that famous holding pool BUT, why are they recruiting rated ATR first officers with the only requirement (in terms of flying experience) of the TR?

That makes me wonder what's happening to the guys in the holding pool. Is it maybe empty? Otherwise it doesn't quite make sense to me that they're looking outside tbh...

I don't know how somebody can take the huge risk of spending that amount of money with no guarantee of a job afterwards... If only we could know what's the status of the holding pool and how long does it takes for the candidates to get a job offer, it would make that decision a lot easier.

But they're not asking for minimum experience in the ATR, aren't they? I can't see any minimum hours requirement, they're just asking for the type rating.

Do they give the possibility to get sttaf tickets with other airlines for wife and kids? Other than EI?
Any idea about salary for F/O and PIC?

AerArann/Simtech assessment (scam, some would call it, but not I)

Windshear23, the holding pool is growing by 48 people a year.

You must now apply to do an ATR type rating at AerArann through Simtech, and hand over 615euro to be assessed.

Then Simtech coincidently (and most heplfully) contact you to tell you of some sim availability to practice on before your assessment, of course this time is not cheap and you MAY feel "pressured" to take them up on their offer of the extra sim time. Why you may ask would you feel "pressured" to take them up on their offer??
Im glad you asked, well the Chief Pilot works for Simtech so its not such a good idea to turn down the extra sim time!

And if youre successful in the assessment you get pay 17,000euro for a type rating and then enter a holding pool growing by 48 people each year with NO JOB OFFER!!!!!!

I would strongly suggest anyone thinking of investing in a TR spend the extra few euro/pounds on a bus/Boeing rating. In terms of the overall amount you have spent on your training so far the extra few euro will get you a marketable rating. Just consider the number of 737s and 320s flying around and on order compared to the numbers of turboprops. No brainer.

It's arguable to say you'd be more marketable with a Boeing or Airbus rating because a naked type rating with no time on type still leaves you with next to no chance of employment in the current market. For example I passed recruitment at a major British/European low cost operator last summer during a time in which, as circumstances would have it, I had just done an A320 rating and turned up to the interview four days after the base training (a long and involved story which would almost certainly reveal my identity, if I haven't already!) They would not entertain employing me until I had 500 on type. As a consequence I now sit in the pool (have the hours now though).

The long and the short of it? Be very careful forking out for ratings with no job offer attached as no time on type means no mans land.

The contract Captain job being advertised on the usual sites is now offering improved terms including a new 6wk on / 2wk off commuting roster.

Does anyone know if this offer will be available to FO's or will it just be contractors?

Also to bump a previous posters question - what is the usual TT for FO's being upgraded internally?

Can anyone shed any light on the non-type-rated captain recruitment? All I got back was that the four-part assessment and training would be carried out by the simtech chaps and to contact them if I wanted to continue the process. I did contact them with a few questions, mainly financial, and just got a stock uninformative reply. So I redirected my questions to Aer Arann and have been ignored. Does anyone out there know how it works, i.e. is it going to cost me a load of dosh?

Stobart E-jet Jobs

Anybody currently working for Stobart care to share their thoughts ? Sigma seem to have been advertising a lot recently for NTR jobs on the E-jet fleet, with various options, both permanent, or contract with good commuting options. Southend base only initially.

Screening and interview to take place in Exeter, at no expense to the candidate apparently, which seems to be a change from what's been posted previously. Aer Arran didn't seem to be a particularly happy place to be, according to these pages ? Has there been a change of management since Stobart ? What's life like these days ?
