There are no complex cashflow theories in my mind. I´m just slightly worried if this job offer will be serious or they're too optimistic collecting CVs but dealing with own troubles. There aren't many companies expanding in the region by now.

Fandak,
Just because you have not been called YET for interview, does not mean WIZZ are in trouble.
As I see it, we are well run, have good loads, a cost base under control and a bright future. If that turns out to be incorrect, then I will be very sorry, but I think we will be ok.
Wizz are 5 and 1/2 years old. We have 26 aircraft. Thats not exactly manic expansion is it? The 10 aircraft for delivery in 2010 are to supplement existing markets and to take advantage of other airlines vacating certain markets (Sky Europe in PRG for example). Also, it is generally a good idea to expand as a recession ends..... and thats what we are doing....
So, to summarize, Wizz are interviewing as we need people. We have 10 aircraft to crew next YEAR, not next WEEK!!! The guys who do the interviewing, who I know personally are also very busy flying the line and managing fleets and bases..... your interview may have to wait a while longer.
But, if you want to join Wizz, sit tight and stop spreading nonsense on here.
Good luck when you get invited for interview.

Well said Stansdead!!
All genuine pilots will want airlines and air operators to do well. If you spread unfounded rumours, eventually in these delicate times when margins and cashflows are tight, and investor confidence is fragile, such rumours could become self-fulfilling prophecies.
Surely we all want Wizzair to do well. It benefits all of us. Most of us come to read the threads in PPRUNE because we want facts. So please everyone please don't spread false rumours.
I for one want to encourage Wizzair's progression. Maybe they are doing things differently, maybe they have an excellent business model.
Thank you again to Stansdead for bringing some informed opinion to this thread.

I agree it's well said. I didn't want to offend you or the company. That I wasn't contacted surely doesn't mean that Wizz are in trouble. I just said "it's rumoured", it was not my fabrication, but I agree these rumours are easily spreading and hard to disprove by involved people.
The fact is that I had no such information that Stansdead wrote above and it could made me impatient. I passed my application few months ago and I would appreciate at least some "stay tuned" email.

Stansdead is on holiday. Don't expect a reply for at least a week
As far as interviews etc go, be patient, the company has many applicants. Phone interviews are happening right now but they all take time. Good luck all those applying

Tell me mrPilot
"Surely we all want Wizzair to do well. It benefits all of us."
How do we all benefit from seeing t & c:s degenerate down to what is described above?? When a type rated experienced pilot is offered 1400€ / month for flying advanced jets, and doing so near the max. allowed flight time / year.
I would rather say that we suffer from their success

Skyfly does have a point... Unfortunately a lot of airlines, easyjet being the latest one, now uses Wizzair pay scales as benchmarks for their pay negotiations.
The "legacy" carriers will be the next ones to follow, they have to to be able to compete. Just look at what has been going on at Aer Lingus.
Good luck to all of us.

interview
Had my phone interview last week:
1. Conducted professionally over the phone by a Wizz Air Captain.
2. Lasted about 15 min.
3. He verified my submitted details.
4. Asked me some general JAR + Airbus questions (I am Airbus rated).
5. An easy prioritization question.
6. Tested my knowledge of Wizz Air.
Finally told me I passed successfully and will be contacted in due course for the next interview by the Chief pilot.
Good luck to all!

Look for Wizzair standards to be the norm Europe wide in the future. And also look for people to tell you how lucky you are to be even given the such an oppurtunity to whore yourself for such "prestigious" work.
I'll chop off my nuts to fly a jet, how about yourself?
I'm going through some crap myself to find greener pastures... but there are limits everywhere. Some of the crap that is happening is purely ridiculous, and once it happens on a wide scale, your only option is to either accept it, or leave the industry, PERIOD. Too many people watching movies like "Catch me if you can" , and "The right stuff" and "Top Gun". Those days are OVER.
Welcome to today... My name is Bob, I will do your work for less.

Wizz Air DEC - Pay to Play.....
Dear Pilot,
Our partner Wizz Air is looking for experienced pilots on FAR-25 aircrafts for direct entry command on Airbus A320 (immediate start).
Recruitment , Assessment and Training
The airlines assessment involves a personal interview followed by a simulator screening. After successful completion a contract will be offered. The self-funded training will be completed at Cockpit4u training center, Berlin-Germany. Training costs include the type rating A320, operator course, performance course, low visibility, OPC, LPC and base training. Program pricing is around 21.600 EUR.
Requirements
Total 3500 factorized hours*
- 1500 hrs as Commander on FAR-25 aircrafts;
- ATPL (JAR or national/ICAO license);
- Right to live and work without additional permits in EU;
- Hold an English proficiency check level 4 or above.
*Factorized hours
Wizz Air applies factors to pilot flying hours to determine minimum requirements for Commanders. A pilot's hours flown in each category are multiplied by the applicable factor from the below table. The sum of all groups after factorisation will be used to determine whether the pilot meets the minimum required experience.
Application
Suitable candidates should apply online:

Whilst in no way condoning the practice of self funded ratings, and neither wishing to p1ss on your parade, I nonetheless should point out that the "darling" of the aviation industry Ryanair, charge 30,000€ (or was it 33? ) for a B738 rating NOT including accomodation etc etc.
So, deplorable ? yes, but pretty much standard practice in these depleted times, and at least they don't exaggerate TOO much with the price.
One could even argue that it isn't a bad investment (and hopefully a job to boot) for an unemployed 737 (or whatever) driver ?

ryan, easy and now wizz's practices should be banned by EU. What the hell is going on these days? I am without a job right now but if offered to pay 20kEUR for the type and then be paid 1400EUR for some time, I would say: f!@# yourself! I am not a whore.
