Wierd, the SOPs that some airlines come up with.

Why would pumps go on as soon as you board?

Unnecessary (what does it achieve?)
Dangerous (if a few other 'holes in the cheese' line up)
Pointless wear and tear
Contrary to Boeing's published procedures

I tend to stay out of the wheel well anyhow.

Back to the original question, I still think it was the pilots playing the instrument
