PA on ACP3 on A320

The FCOM I have (out of date) on preflight directs that the third ACP should have the PA reception knob out and up to ensure PA announcements are recorded on the CVR.

Our company manual does not direct this.

Does your operator direct this? Is it required that PA's be recorded on the CVR - ICAO or FAR?

Thank you for your input.

Yes, even with the latest A320 (MSN 7000+) this is required. In Europe, so wouldn't be FAA.

Ours requires it (FAA).

A of G,

To save me the time, if you have the source FAA regulation, I would appreciate it.

What I meant was that we operate in the FAA land, not that the requirement itself is from the FAA.

Does the knob just have to be out, or does it have to be set to a certain level?

For us FCOM is part of OM.

It isn't in our flight manual. I am trying to find out if it is a regulatory or manufacturer instigated. It seems most operators do it.

Gents, thanks for that. There's something wrong in our FCOMs. Those two italicized lines are missing. I'll have a word with our training and technical publications departments.

The database-driven FCOMs have layers of information. Just make sure you have them all displated. My point is, very likely the lines are not missing but hidden instead, in which case plenty of other italic line would be hidden too!

(and unfortunately such is the default setting of the OLB application, which makes the whole "refer to FCOM" excercise futile without manual intervention)

The italics in this were visible even in the standard layer 1 in my OLB. Layer 2 contains additional information and layer 3 information about company modifications of the FCOM.
