iPhone GPS Track

I want to track my flights data such as position that can be viewed after flight.

What app will let me do this?

Thank you

I haven't used it in flight, but Motion X GPS has worked well for me for 35000kms of driving over 6 months recording on the iPhone.

I'm sure there are plenty of other apps.

Remember by its very function, GPS is less accurate in altitude.

Basically you want anything that records and easily exports (via email) a .gpx file. You can then open this in google earth.

Any app that is able to read the storage of background location services will be able to. Most apps are designed to never access the storage, merely able to read the actual rather then past locations. If you have a Mac you are able to download (with a bit of help) the entire GPS history of your phone, maybe that's what you're looking for, rather then an app?

Though of course the iPhone should be in flight mode thus the GPS will not work......

In fact GPS can work if an application specifically requires its use even when cellular network connectivity is not enabled, but that is a design issue and can be mitigated by SOP in your company.
Note; OP did not refer to airline flying, he may be a private pilot...

I was being slightly tongue in cheek and don't really care, but unless certified and cleared, surely it should not be used in a private aircraft either?

I know from painful experience how excitable military aircraft certifiers get about unauthorised/certified gps on board....

Since iOS 9, flight mode no longer turns off GPS. Very handy for pilots.

Not quite true radix as the gps demodulator can be detected. Basically it transmits the time signal to itself. It is very weak however.
