Thumbs up Best FMS ???

Airbus single isle and long range aircrafts have Honeywell and Thales (& Smiths) FMS. Wanted to understand pilot experiences using these FMS. How are airlines realizing benefit using these FMS, which can be rated best in terms of reliability, functionality etc.

Personally I don't like Thales

It has some good features, but is annoying if a few others. Specially I hate that you lose the VDEV when in HDG and away from the green line, where in the other models it is always there and gives useful information.

There is nothing like the best. All systems have to perform to a degree of reliability and functionality. All you will get is personal preferences.

I was trying to understand based on several reports including this one.

With around 60% market share on FMS single isle/narrow body aircrafts for Airbus, appears like Thales FMS is popular among the airlines. Functionally I believe both of them should be having similar features. Trying to understand from safety and savings standpoint which of these two companies offer better FMS. Which of them have been built with much better user experiences, which of them economizes the operator for the route planning and which of them is built to handle NextGen ATM compliance.
