Angel Lost communication

Hi friends,
Do you guys have any method to differ receiver failure or totally lost communication?

I thought one, transmit to ATC to give me a SELCAL identification if they could hear me, does this work?

It wouldn't, the selcal receiver uses the same receiver (and the same signal path) as the audio panels normally...

If we are talking ALL your VHF receivers, no - just keep 'transmitting blind'. If you have HF/SatPhone you can try those. Mobile is worth a try too eg the Geneva FIR publishes phone numbers.

I always found it quite clever that the Russians publish that they will transmit messages to losscom aircraft over the LOM, wonder if this is possible elsewhere as well... Haven't seen it published in the loss of communication procedures anywhere except Russia.

Pretty sure it used to be around in the UK a while back, probably in military.
