A320 SE climb

During SE climb after T/O I have been taught two techniques:

1) Push to level-off at ACCEL ALT regardless if failed engine is secure/unsecure
2) Push to level-off at ACCEL ALT only if engine is secure, otherwise continue climb and push to level-off when eng is secure.

Whats the wisdom for the first opinion, the second one seems much more sensible, and I think that this is what Airbus promotes.

Three requirements should be met before pushing to level off:
1. Above EO ACCEL ALT (1500ft min)
2. Engine secure.
3. Any engine out emergency turn completed, i.e. on a safe heading.

Talking purely in a simulator/check sense, some regulatory requirements come into play as some bodies (as the examination phase) give e-inop accel tolerances of -0/+100 i.e. its an F if you accel more than 100' abv your e-inop accel alt.

Notwithstanding that, the 320 is no scorcher e-inop so if the engine went bang at V1 chances are you have it secured in the 1-2 min it takes to go from 400' to 1500'.

Don't necessarily have to complete the emergency turn either as long as there isn't a speed restriction associated with it.
