Floating Fixes

Hello all,

Following on from my ETP and RTE 2 questions, may I ask, as I am unable to find anywhere, if it is possible and if so, how, to put a floating lat/long fix as a FIX, not a LEGS page waypoint.

It was mentioned that the 747-400 gives the opportunity to enter an ETP as a floating fix (lat long or time) so it is visible on the ND.

I fail to make my FMC FIX page let me enter lat/long (simplified entry) cords or a ZULU time of some sort.

May somebody shed some light?

Thanks kindly!
Dan

Lower right on the FIX page -- enter time as 1234Z

If you want to have a FIXED lat/long position as a Fix point i.e, a position defined by a latitude and longitude, you can define a waypoint by accessing INDEX>NAV DATA>waypt and defining the waypoint there (from memory!)

OR: Add on to end of route. Input a waypoint (thats not on your route!) - I use 'A' for simplicity, followed by the desired fix/Lot-long. Delete previous waypoint to create route discontinuity. New 'floater' is visible enroute, but will not be reported by CPDLC (if you have it) as it will never be active. Works for 767 Pegasus and 757 PIP...
