callsign heavy

Hi,

just been told that using heavy along with your callsign is no longer needed (except in the US).
I found it strange but went to look it up on the LiDO general and can't seem to find it anymore.
Does anyone have a clue?

Regards,

And in the US, only with approach, tower or departure controls. That is, not enroute despite what is done,
